Mission: The NRV Mask Makers is an all-volunteer group who are donating their time, materials, and skills to providing masks to healthcare facilities and community groups/individuals as resources permit. in the New River Valley, Virginia.

This Google doc is where we organize the information we have to the best of our ability and knowledge. If you have updated info, you can contact Inga (ihaugen@vt.edu) and we'll update it as we can.

You don't have to know how to sew! You don't have to buy supplies! We have avenues for all skill levels to help the cause.

Mask Makers

Hiya Wondrous Mask Makers!  We've got a couple questions for you that can help us keep better track, and also to organize volunteers directly so we can respond quickly to requests as they come in.  Please fill out this form if you want to be a volunteer with this effort.

Details for Delivering: Related to the distribution of our many masks (keep them coming!), Anne Campbell and Jan Miller McGilliard have made a plan.

Please drop ALL masks at Blacksburg Presbyterian Church, 701 Church Street, Blacks
burg VA 24060, so everything is centered in same location. Remember that you can drop off masks at the church any time, day or night and on weekends. The little vestibule is always open. Similarly, one of us can collect them for processing at any time. If you are outside the NRV and want to contribute, you may mail them to the church at that address.

Please put your masks in a zip lock and write on either the bag or on a piece of tape, your name and the number of masks. We will keep track of the number of masks and where distributed on a spread sheet. Once a week we will give a brief report. We will package appropriate numbers for each facility. When they are ready, we will contact the pony express designee for pick up at Anne's house on Preston Avenue. If you are a "runner," we'll be sure you have Anne's address for pick-up.

Many thanks to each of you for taking part in this important mission to meet our community's needs. Be well and be safe.

Requesting Masks

If you want to REQUEST masks please use this form.

This request form is for mask requests for people in the New River Valley of Virginia. The NRV Mask Makers came together in an effort to support our community's healthcare professionals as they deal with shortages of personal protective equipment (PPE). We prioritize requests for healthcare folk within the NRV, and work with other requests for community groups/individuals as resources permit. Important: we are an all-volunteer group and cannot guarantee we will be able to fulfill every request, nor do we claim this gear is equivalent to standardized equipment. However, we are doing our very best to meet unmet needs, with the understanding that some protection, used properly, is better than no protection at all.
