VTCSOM: Services

Virginia Tech students, faculty, and staff will use their Hokie Passports as their library cards and we will automatically create their library patron accounts. Carilion faculty and staff will use their Carilion Photo ID as their library cards and we will automatically create VTC Libraries accounts for them.  All other patrons must come to the VTCSOM Help Desk  so that we can manually create your account. You will need to do the following:

  • Present a valid Virginia state issued photo ID such as a Virginia driver's license, a Virginia DMV ID card, or a photo ID from another Virginia college.
  • Fill out a new patron form.
  • Once we have created your account, you may check circulating materials out of the library.
  • Community members are not permitted off campus access to licensed online materials.

See the University Libraries Circulation Policy guide for full details, including examples of acceptable IDs.
