VT ENGL1106 course template: Citation - Styles

Using APA Style

APA, or the American Psychological Association, uses one of the most well-known citation styles.  Detailed information about using this style is available in the APA Style Guide (shown below), but you can also find information on the web about using the APA style:

Citation styles

Any sources used in your research paper should be cited in a bibliography or works cited list and in the body of your paper. The format of these references is dictated by the "citation style." Check with your professor to see which style he/she prefers. Some of the common citation styles include APA (American Psychological Association), MLA (Modern Language Associations), and Chicago. The same information is included in the citations - it is just formatted differently. Take this journal article:

How to Find the BEST FOOD. By: Pleasant, Barbara; Alterman, Tabitha. Mother Earth News, Aug/Sep2006, Issue 217, p38-42, 5p <

Here is the citation, but in different formats.
