Henrietta Lacks Excellence in Medicine Scholarship
Medical School Honors Henrietta Lacks’ Legacy Through Diversity Scholarship
In a significant move to champion diversity and pay homage to the legacy of Henrietta Lacks, the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM) renamed its VTC Dean's Council Diversity Excellence in Medicine Endowed Scholarship to the Henrietta Lacks Excellence in Medicine Scholarship.

Founded in 1994, the Women’s Center serves as a resource for the university and surrounding community on gender-related and women’s issues; sponsors educational programs and events that raise awareness of women’s issues; and serves as an on-campus focal point for services for survivors, their friends, and families.
