Art & Architecture Library: Research
Librarians, library staff, and student library assistants can all help you with your research in various ways:
General Reference: If you need help finding a specific book, using general library resources, or making a booking for our technology lending program, help is available at the front desk during open hours.
Research Appointment: If you would like more in-depth research assistance with a specific topic or task, please make an appointment with the Head Librarian. (See current contact information on the right of the page.)
Immediate Help: If you need immediate assistance, you can also text, call, or chat with a librarian at Newman Library.
Other Inquiries: For less urgent requests, send an email to artarchlibrary-g@vt.edu. A staff member will respond to your request during business hours.
The library has a lot of resources - how do you choose where to look? Check out the chart below for more information.

Search Strategy Builder
The Search Strategy Builder is a tool designed to teach you how to create a search string using Boolean logic. While it is not a database and is not designed to input a search, you should be able to cut and paste the results into the standard database search boxes.
Write out your research question or topic thesis as a sentence.
