Citation Ethics and Citation Managers: Citation Styles

Citations are a necessary part of academic writing, but they can also be frustrating. This site will help you figure out when you need to cite, why we cite, how citation managers can help you both manage and cite sources, and where to go to learn more.

Citation Types

There are thousands of citation types, some created by professional organizations, such as APA (American Psychological Association) and MLA (Modern Language Association), while others are developed by individual journals, such as Nature. There's no need to memorize a citation style; just use the official guidelines to make sure your citations are accurate.
