Interior Design: Start Here

Interior design builds competencies in fundamental design, materials, finishes, lighting, computer-aided design, historical interiors, professional practice, interior construction, space planning, programming, and communication skills.

This guide is a starting point for interior design research. It will help you navigate books, scholarly articles, and online resources provided by Virginia Tech's libraries.

Related Research Guides

Use Discovery Search to find books, ebooks, and journal articles. Search using keywords related to your topic (artist's name, movement or time period, medium, significant exhibitions, etc.) Filter results by selecting options on the left of your search screen.

When you find a book you want, pay attention to its:

Location

Call Number

Availability

When you find a ebook or journal article make sure you are signed in to your library account. Off-campus, you will need to log-in using two-factor authentication to access library materials.
