Beyond 1492: What the Land Has to Teach for a Sustainable Future
Take a tour through the Indigenous Garden to learn about traditional uses of the various plants grown there and intercropping techniques from Victoria Ferguson, a Monacan Horticulturalist who directed the original planting of the Monacan portion of the garden.

Directions:
DRIVING:
- From US 460 take Soputhgate Dr. PAST Lane Stadium on left. Continue past German Club on Right.
- (If driving from campus take West Campus Drive all the way to Washington St. Left on to Washington St. at Traffic Circle, right onto Beamer Way, Left on Southgate Dr.)
- Immediately after passing under the Pedestrian overpass, which is the Huckleberry Trail, take a RIGHT into the Turfgrass Research Center.
- Garden site will be on the left.
- Drivers should park on the shoulders along the road.
WALKING:
Take the Huckleberry Trail from Blacksburg Library and following all the way to Pedestrian Bridge. Take steps down and cross Southgate.
