Inspiring Women Leaders in the Health Sciences: Panel Session

Inspiring Women Leaders in the Health Sciences Panel session

Leadership in the health sciences takes many forms. The Health Sciences Libraries and VT Roanoke Women's Connect are hosting a panel discussion with six esteemed Virginia Tech women leaders to hear their stories of the challenges, opportunities, and rewards they have had in their journey to their current leadership roles. Bring your lunch and come engage with this amazing panel of women leaders while learning more about the diverse array of leadership opportunities that influence and impact the academic arena of the health sciences.

This panel is being held in conjunction with the National Library of Medicine's Rise, Serve, Lead America's Women Physicians exhibit that is on display at the VTCSOM Library (2 Riverside) from August 19th - September 28th.

Developing Leadership Skills (programs/cohorts)

  • Leadership Essentials

    • Leadership Essentials (formerly known as Fast Track for New Supervisors) is a unique opportunity to build the core competencies of leadership to support the university’s aspirations for talent development.

  • Leadership Excellence

    • Leadership Excellence is a cohort-based academic year program and is part of the university's efforts to foster the continuous growth and development of leaders at Virginia Tech. This program will enhance leadership competencies to improve the ability to lead, serve, and advance the university’s vision, mission, and values beyond boundaries.

  • Provost’s Leadership Development Program

    • Building on the past success of the Academic Leaders Program, this program embraces a broad view of academic leadership, from more formal positional leadership roles to a more lateral view where leadership roles are available to everyone, sometimes referred to as leadership in place.

  • ACC Academic Leaders Network

    • The ACC Academic Leaders Network (ALN) is designed to facilitate cross-institutional networking and collaboration among academic leaders while building leadership capacity for the participating institutions.
