Library Help: Resources Beyond the Library

Basic Needs

Any student who faces challenges securing their food or housing and believes that this may affect their performance in their courses is urged to contact the Dean of Students office for support. Other resources, including those providing support for basic needs, are listed below. 

On-Campus Food Bank

209 Manna Ministries (209 W. Roanoke St.) offers the chance for anyone who lacks food and basic necessities to shop for them up to three times a week. The pantry is open Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 4:00-6:30 pm. For more information, contact 209MannaVT@gmail.com

 

Cook Counseling Center

Cook Counseling Center is VT's on-campus counseling center, serving all students by providing free (included with your health fee) counseling and psychiatric care. To get in touch with someone at the center 24/7, call 540-231-6557.

Women's Center at Virginia Tech

The Women's Center at Virginia Tech promotes a safe, equitable campus environment for all genders. Their services include free counseling, particularly for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence. 

Schiffert Health Center

Located in McComas Hall, the Schiffert Health Center is open to all students who have paid their health fee. Services include a primary care clinic, a women's clinic, allergy clinic, travel clinic, HIV/STI testing, a pharmacy, radiology lab, and nutrition counseling. In an life-threatening or medical emergency, call 911, but for after-hours, non-life-threatening questions, call 540-231-6444.
