In support of our global land-grant mission, we are committed to making the scholarly publishing landscape more open. We strive to engage a diverse group of stakeholders and to be transparent about the decisions we make. We are especially eager to support initiatives designed to change the scholarly publishing model for the public good. OA initiatives should meet Virginia Tech and University Libraries’ strategic plan goals and promote scholarly quality. For further information about our guiding principles, see our Open Values statement.
Examples of the kind of initiatives we fund include:
- Subscribe to open or “unlatched” content models
- Publishing grants
- Read and publish or transformative agreements for journals
- Hosting our own open content
- Editing and publishing support
- Payment of article publishing charges
