Resources for Educational Leadership Program (Richmond) : Welcome!

This guide is designed to provide an overview of library resources available for VT School of Education students studying at the Richmond Center. If you have any questions about the library at any time, you're welcome to contact Lisa Becksford, the librarian for the School of Education, at the contact information below.

Off-Campus Access for Electronic Resources

When you are taking classes at an extended campus location, you'll need to access the library's electronic resources from off-campus. To do so, start at the library's homepage and navigate to the resource you need. At some point, you'll be asked to log in via VT's 2-factor authentication service. Once you've logged in, you should be able to access the resources just as if you were on campus. If you run into any trouble, contact the library's reference desk via one of the ways listed as part of the library's Ask a Librarian service.

Accessing Physical Materials

Although you're located outside of Blacksburg, you do have access to materials physically located in the University Libraries, as well as to items from other libraries available through Interlibrary Loan. Students located outside of the New River Valley (Montgomery, Giles, and Pulaski counties) may use Interlibrary Loan to request items held by Virginia Tech or by other libraries. The item will be mailed to you and will come with a prepaid US Postal Service mailing label so that you can send the item back when its borrowing term is up. Check out the videos below for more details on registering for and using ILL.

Changes to borrowing due to COVID-19: Because of the pandemic, physical items may not be available by mail at times. For updates on the library's status, visit https://lib.vt.edu/find-borrow/library-resources-covid19.html

Working remotely (Summer 2020)

Schedule an appointment with me!

Virtual research consultations are available (whether there's a pandemic or not!). We can talk about your research, look together at library resources, or discuss questions about the library. To sign up for an appointment during my regularly-scheduled office hours, please follow the link to my calendar. If none of those times work, please email me at the address above to find another time. I do have some limited availability outside of normal business hours. After you've signed up for an appointment, I will add a Zoom link to the calendar entry.
