VetTRAC: Identifying Types of Sources

Course guide for the summer VetTRAC program.

Information comes in all sorts of shapes, sizes, formats, levels of detail, and purposes.  In an online environment it can be difficult to determine just what kind of source you're looking at, let alone the different types of information sources available.  

  • The video below gives a good introduction to the different types of information sources available and some general guidelines of what characteristics to look for. 
  • The two videos to the right describe some attributes for identifying scholarly or peer-reviewed articles, as well as differences between original research and review articles.
