SciENcv Tutorials

What is SciENcv?

SciENcv is used by PIs and Co-PIs for submitting their grant proposals to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Science Foundation (NSF). PIs need to create a SciENcv in order to populate their Biosketch, which is then integrated into their proposal. The SciENcv account can also be linked to ORCID, which "should allow submission of required disclosure information via a DPI [(digital persistent identifier)] service," according to NSPM-33. ORCID is the only DPI that satisfies the requirements of NSPM-33, and thus, it should be connected to SciENcv to comply with federal mandates. See this tab on the ORCID page for more details.

SciENcv: Science Experts Network Curriculum Vitae

This video (below) focuses on special features in SciENcv that help users create, share, and maintain NIH Biosketch profiles for federal grant applications. However, anyone with a My NCBI account may use SciENcv.  http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sciencv/

SciENcv: Integrating with ORCID

This video focuses on features in SciENcv that help users connect profile and citation information stored in an ORCiD profile, where ORCiD is the free Open Researcher and Contributor ID system.

2023 NSF Policy Office Webinar Series: NSF Biographical Sketch and Current and Pending (Other) Support: SciENcv and NSF Formats

NSF implemented revised versions of the Biographical Sketch and Current and Pending (Other) Support formats for consistency with the Proposal and Award Policies and Procedures Guide (PAPPG) (NSF 23-1). The requirement to use the revised formats is effective for proposals submitted or due on or after January 30, 2023.

These revised formats are now available in SciENcv and on the NSF Policy Office website
