Find your Scopus Author ID
A Scopus Author ID is automatically generated the first time one of your publications is indexed in Scopus. You can find your Scopus Author Profile and ID by searching in the database (see the tutorial below).
You may need to merge multiple author profiles in Scopus that are yours. To find your Scopus profile and merge multiple profiles, follow the steps below.
Edit your Profile
This is optional, but you should definitely do this if there are inaccurate documents listed under your profile. You can also:
- Search and add documents to your profile
- Select a different name preference
- Select a different affiliation
Keep in mind, none of these fields can be freely edited; you can select the name variation based on how the publishers have listed your name and affiliation.
Connect to ORCID
Option 1: Link ORCID iD from Scopus Author ID
- Go to Scopus and select the Authors tab for searching for authors
- Search by your name; if you have a common name, add your most recent affiliation (most likely Virginia Tech) in the Affiliation field
- Select your name in the results list to open your profile page. (Please note: you won’t find an Author ID if you don’t have works already indexed by Scopus)
- Select ‘Connect to ORCID’. This will open the Scopus - ORCID merging process (you will be prompted to login or create an account with ORCID.)

Option 2: Link Scopus Author ID from ORCID
- Log in to ORCID.
- In the Works section, select 'Add works’ and then ‘Search & link.’
- Select Scopus - Elsevier from the list and authorize.
- Follow the steps to associate your Scopus profile and works with ORCID.
