Haugen is the Agriculture, Life Sciences, and Scholarly Communication Librarian Liaison for Virginia Tech, with specific liaison responsibilities for Military Studies, Virginia Cooperative Extension, and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. As a liaison librarian, Haugen supports these communities in accessing the information they need to do their jobs and live their lives as students, staff, faculty, and as humans who are creating their communities. Additionally, the scholarly communication work focuses on helping people communicate their own research back out into the world. Haugen is a PhD candidate in the Agricultural Leadership and Community Education department at Virginia Tech; the doctoral dissertation is _Materiality of Bureaucratic Information Systems (BIS): A case study of Marine Corps University_ looking at how decision makers access information to make informed decisions, and how leadership is affected by the bureaucratic and informational systems of the organization.
