VTCSOM Library & Learning Commons: Visitor Information

Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine Library is located on the 1st floor (room #M110) at 2 Riverside Circle, Roanoke, VA 24016.   

Visitors can park in the parking garage next to Riverside 4 on floors 2 or higher.

Visiting the VTCSOM Library

The School of Medicine Library's main purpose is to support the educational and research needs of its medical students, faculty, and research partners. Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine students have 24/7 keycard access to the School of Medicine and Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital Health Sciences Libraries. After hours access is restricted to VTCSOM medical students, their mentors, and their research colleagues.

As a land-grant institution, the School of Medicine Library ordinarily is open to the public during staffed hours of 8:00 am-5:00 pm, Monday-Friday. 

There are times when the library may close due to weather or other events, VTCSOM closings can be found here.

Access to Online Resources

Guest logins are available on 2 computer workstations.  Log-in information is posted on each computer. 

Off-campus access to online healthcare subscription resources is available solely to currently enrolled VTCSOM students and currently employed VTCSOM faculty and staff.

 

Access to Print Resources

Community members may obtain a community borrower's card and borrow materials located in the library's general collection.  Community users may use the items that are in the VTCSOM Library's reserves collections within the library, but these materials are not eligible to be borrowed by community members as they are restricted to VTCSOM students, faculty, and staff to check out.
