VTCSOM Library & Learning Commons: Elements

Elements

Virginia Tech uses an activities data system to collect and manage information about research and scholarship, creative works, teaching, extension, outreach, and service activities. This system combines automated sources of data from within and outside the university with data that is manually entered into the university's instance of Elements (produced by Symplectic).

Elements at VTCSOM

Beginning in Fall 2024, the VTCSOM Library is piloting a service to assist constructing profiles in Elements for VTCSOM Faculty

How it Works

  • Faculty may submit their CVs to the library at vtcsomlibrary@vt.edu
  • We may reach out to you with questions or to clarify details as necessary
  • We are also available to consult and advise on using Elements with any VTCSOM faculty

What We'll Include for You

  • All publications, funded grants, etc.
  • All professional service activities (memberships, offices held, editor/reviewer, etc.)
  • Any Virginia Tech-related activities
  • Dating back three (3) years: other content like classes, workshops, student advising, etc.
University Libraries has an excellent Elements page for self-guided learning, and we are available to assist you. Please reach out to us at vtcsomlibrary@vt.edu and we'll be happy to help!
