Vet Med Library Information: Equine
Medical Center

This page and corresponding tabs provide information about the Veterinary Medicine Library's resources, policies, services, etc. at Virginia Tech

Books & Borrowing

Books that are housed at the Equine Medial Center Library are able to be checked out and managed through your "My Library Account"

You are responsible for the return of any books signed out to you. If they are not returned or renewed by the due date (or when you  are no longer working at the center) you will be billed for their replacement.

To locate specific titles housed at the EMC Library, you can search the library's catalog and limit to "Vet Med Library" (note this will include books that are maintained at the Blacksburg campus as well as the EMC).  Or you can use the spreadsheet of titles that is maintained on the shared server at the EMC.

Training

I plan to visit the EMC location two times per year (most likely during the spring and fall semesters). If you would like to receive any training or consultations on library resources, services, or discussions about changes in the scholarly landscape that you wish to have, please email me and I will be sure to schedule a session while I am there.

Please note, if there is a training or consultation you would like to have that falls outside of the times I will be at the EMC, I am happy to work with you through an online meeting system to arrange that training.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

For any materials that you need that are not available at the EMC Library, you can use Interlibrary Loan to request materials be sent to you from the Blacksburg campus, or requested through another library. Use your PID/password to log into the system; first-time users will be presented with a screen to create their profile in ILLiad.

For items mailed to the address provided in your ILLiad account and mailed to you as an Extended User, use the US Postal Service prepaid return label located inside each book shipped to you.

Requesting Materials to be Added to the EMC Collection

If there is a resource you need to have access to at the EMC library, please let me know!

Books

Email me as much information of the book that you have, indicate if you would like it in print, electronic, or both formats, and if you would like to be notified when it is available at the EMC Library.

Journals and databases

If there is a journal or database that you need, please email me with as much information that you have for the title. We review subscription requests every fall around October, and generally review requests (depending on funds available) again in the spring.
